Current Short-Term Programs

Study Abroad Suspended for Spring/Summer 2022

Montgomery College continues to closely monitor advice from local, national, and international agencies regarding the Coronavirus outbreak, including the CDC and US State Department. As a response to rapidly changing events, the college has decided to suspend study abroad and international education programs for the Spring 2022 and Summer 2022 terms to protect the safety and well-being of students, faculty, and staff.

However, immense opportunities and global experiences are currently available with Virtual Study Abroad and Global Internships. In addition, we expect full study abroad, with travel and overseas stay, to commence in May, 2023. Fall, 2023, MC Study Abroad plans to open registration and provide a full itinerary for the coming Health Sciences and Nursing program to theDominican Republic. You may read the attached article that conveys the value of the last Dominican Republic program, held in 2019, in order to better understand what the next program will bring.

The college remains committed to providing students opportunities for rich cultural experiences and will continue to post updates for future programs as they become available.

Service Learning

Service learning is an essential part of study abroad that improves International Competency—it is part of short-term term study abroad, often within long-term study abroad, and may be a full program in itself.

A service learning activity abroad often serves as the impetus for continued life-long community service; it is our goal, through guidance from members of the Study Abroad Office, to assist with service learning goals and projects that are sustained through college-wide events, the local community, or abroad.
